Ash Tree Dieback –
Roadside Crown Reduction

This mature Ash tree was showing signs of Ash dieback, with a number of weakened and declining branches within the crown. As the tree is positioned directly alongside the road, particular attention was given to the branches extending over the carriageway, where deterioration could potentially create a safety concern.

The owner was keen to retain the tree rather than have it completely removed, so the roadside crown was carefully reduced and selected affected branches removed. This helped reduce the weight and overhang towards the highway while retaining as much of the tree’s natural shape and healthy growth as possible. The tree can now continue to be monitored, with further work carried out in the future if the effects of dieback progress.
